Hansueli Schenkel

Hansueli Schenkel (* 1946 in Zurich ) is a Swiss cameraman and a member of the Swiss Cinematographer's Society, which was founded in 1996.

Life

After an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic, Schenkel attended the Bavarian State Institute for Photography in Munich from 1969 to 1971 , where he was trained as a photographer. Between 1972 and 1976 he worked as a freelance photographer and cameraman and then from 1976 to 1980 at the ETH Zurich as a photographer and consultant. He has been working as a freelance cameraman since 1980.

Schenkel was involved in the realization of numerous feature films and documentaries. Several of his films have received awards, such as Terra incognita by Peter Volkart , which was named Best Short Film of the Year at the 2006 Swiss Film Prize. At the Zurich Film Prize 2005, both Peter Volkart for Terra incognita and Hansueli Schenkel received a prize worth 10,000 francs for his long service as a cameraman. Bödälä - Dance The Rhythm by Gitta Gsell won the audience award at the Solothurn Film Festival , the most important retrospective for Swiss film. Schenkel was also the cameraman for Peter Volkart's film Zimmer 606 . The film was awarded the Méliès d'Or for the best European fantasy short film at the 2012 Sitges Film Festival. At the event in Spain, 15 films competed for the prestigious award. Zimmer 606 was honored with three prizes at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival in July 2012 .
