Harris Johns is a music producer and sound engineer .

Life

Harris Johns is the son of a US soldier and a mother from Northern Germany . He received the family name of his mother, which is pronounced with a long "o". Because of his father's origins, Johns is a member of the Choctaw-Apache of Ebarb Indian tribe .

Act

After studying business administration and part-time work as a DJ, Johns worked in the Berlin Hansa recording studios , which were the largest in Berlin at the time, and later ran the Music Lab Berlin recording studio from 1978 to 2015 . He produced around 450 albums, for example for bands such as Slime , Daily Terror , Grave Digger , Helloween , Coroner , Kreator , Tankard , Voivod , Sodom , Die Skeptiker , Sepultura , Slipknot , Einstürzende Neubauten , Toxpack and Protector . In 1990, Metal Hammer called him "number one among Europe's thrash producers". Harris wrote and produced, among other things, the music for the RIAS radio play series The Miracle of Narnia . In 2019 he mixed the new album of the epic-metal band Ironsword from Portugal.

In addition to his work as a producer and sound engineer, he was a regular guest musician in various bands. In 1979 the album Harris Johns 4 was released on RAF Records, and later he was the singer and guitarist of the Berlin band CHARN, which was founded in the late 1980s . Since 2004 he has also worked occasionally as the FOH mixer for the Berlin band Toxpack , with whom he has produced 3 albums. Since 2014 he has been playing with his psychedelic hard rock band Kon Sameti .
