Abbess Hedwig IV of Gernrode

Hedwig IV. Was the abbess of the combined monasteries of Gernrode and Frose from 1307 to 1316 . She was the successor to Irmingard II von Ummendorf .

Life

It is not known which sex Hedwig IV comes from.

Only one document of June 6, 1311 is known of her, according to which she had to sell some abbey goods in order to be able to redeem the pledged church treasure. (CDA III, 151 no.131)

Hedwig IV seems to have taken office in 1307. Her predecessor is last attested there. She seems to have ruled until 1316, because her successor Gertrude II of Boventhen received papal confirmation on January 21, 1317. She will have died in the last months of the previous year.
