Heinz Gessler is a former German skeleton athlete .

Heinz Gessler was one of the top German skeleton pilots in the second half of the 1970s. Although he was never better than third in German championships, he won the bronze medals four times: in 1974 behind Josef Grubmüller and Rudi Häusler , in 1975 behind Häusler and Heinrich Platzer and in 1976 behind Häusler and Joe Stengel three times in a row in Königssee and for the fourth time behind Helmut Spieß and Franz Kleber in Winterberg . At the Bavarian Championships Gessler was third in 1973, 1976 and 1980, and in 1977 second behind Häusler.
