Hellmut Andics

Hellmut Andics (born August 25, 1922 in Vienna , † August 19, 1998 there ) was an Austrian journalist , publicist and screenwriter .

The son of an anti-clerical and German national-minded corps student with sympathy for the communal housing program of “ Red Vienna ” in the interwar period had Jewish ancestors on his mother's side - a family situation that should find its echo in his work. After serving in the Second World War, Andics became a journalist and worked as an editor for, among other things, Neues Österreich and the press .

From March 1, 1979 to December 31, 1980, Andics was the artistic director of the Kobersdorf Castle Games, which were integrated into the Burgenland Festival , and the Joseph Haydn Days in Eisenstadt . From October 11, 1982 to October 27, 1986 he was director of the ORF regional studio in Burgenland .

He became known for his contemporary historical reports and documentaries. He also wrote the script for the television series Ringstrasse Palace . He also wrote the book for the five-part documentary television film Civil War in Russia , which ZDF produced in 1967 under the direction of Wolfgang Schleif . He also had the idea for the television series Der Salzbaron by Bernd Fischerauer . Andics was the father of two sons (Eric and Maximilian) and had three grandchildren (Daniel, Therese and Sophie).

Hellmut Andics died of heart failure in his Vienna apartment in the early morning hours of August 19, 1998 ; he was buried in the arcade of the Simmering fire hall (ALI 158) in Vienna near the urn niche by Rudolf Saliger .

Andics had been a member of the Libertas Gemina Lodge since 1969 and a founding member of the Libertas Oriens Lodge in 1970.
