Helmut Knocke

Helmut Knocke (* 1953 ) is a German architectural historian and author in various encyclopedias .

Life

Helmut Knocke studied architecture with specialization in building history at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University in Hanover and graduated in 1983. He works on the inventory of monuments and is also active in excavation work on site. He also works with the Hannover City Archives , where he is particularly concerned with researching the legacies of Laves and Rudolf Hillebrecht , and participates in research projects at the Institute for the History of Architecture and Art at the University of Hannover.

Together with Hugo Thielen, Knocke wrote the art and culture lexicon Hanover , which appeared in its fourth, updated and expanded edition in 2007 as a new edition by zu Klampen Verlag and is considered a standard work . He is the author of numerous individual contributions to the Lexika Hannoversches biographisches Lexikon (published 2002) and Stadtlexikon Hannover (published 2009).
