Helmut Krieghofer

Helmut Krieghofer (born November 29, 1951 in Lienz ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and was regional director of the ORF regional studio in Tyrol from 2012 to 2018. From 1994 to 2001 he was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament .

Life

After primary school, Krieghofer attended secondary school and graduated from commercial school or commercial academy in Lienz by 1969. In addition, from 1974 to 1976 he trained as a radio and television journalist in Vienna , Innsbruck and Munich .

In his professional life, Krieghofer was an editor-in-chief at Osttiroler Bote until 1969 , and he also completed a traineeship with Salzburger Nachrichten . From 1971 to 1974 he worked as the editor of the Osttiroler Bote and was a freelancer for ORF-Tirol and ORF-Vienna. As a result, he was active as a radio and television editor for ORF Tirol between 1975 and 1991. In 1980, Krieghofer was elected to the editorial board, and he also became head of service in the “Current Service” for radio and television. From 1988 he was entrusted with the conception and moderation of “Tirol Today” and on May 2nd, 1988 he presented the first program. At that time he greeted the audience with the words "take a look at this" .

Krieghofer was also the head of TV editorial at ORF Tirol. In 1991 he changed his profession and became chief executive of the Tyrolean People's Party . He held this position until 2000.

On April 5, 1994, Krieghofer was sworn in as a member of the Tyrolean state parliament and was a member of the state parliament until September 30, 2001. He entered the state parliament via the constituency of Lienz . As a member of the state parliament, he was a member of the Committee on Federalism and European Integration, member of the Committee on Art, Culture, School and Sport, member of the Committee on Social Affairs and Health, member of the Immunity and Incompatibility Committee, member of the Tourism Committee and member of the Emergency Committee. In addition, he was media spokesman for the Tyrolean People's Party between 1994 and 2001, and from 1996 to 2001 he was district party chairman of the Tyrolean People's Party in the Lienz district. In addition, Helmut Krieghofer served as the ORF Board of Trustees from 2010 to 2011 and has been President of Ski Pool Tirol since 2001.

From October 2001 to December 2011 he was Country Director of Uniqa Insurance. On September 15, 2011, on January 1, 2012, he was appointed regional director of the ORF regional studio in Tyrol . In 2018 it became known that Krieghofer will leave ORF at the end of the year and will retire. Robert Unterweger is to succeed him as regional director of ORF Tirol on January 1, 2019.
