Helmuth Frahm (born September 21, 1946 in Hittfeld , Harburg district), teacher, is a Hamburg politician of the SPD , a former member of the Hamburg Parliament and a long-time member of the Broadcasting Council and the NDR administrative board . He is married to Rosemarie Raab .

Life

Helmuth Frahm was born in Hittfeld as the son of a customs officer, grew up in Hamburg-Harburg and graduated from high school there in 1966. In 1968 he interrupted his studies to become a teacher in English and social studies at the University of Hamburg for several years of study and work in the USA and Great Britain. After the first state examination, he worked as a teacher at the Hittfelder Gymnasium from 1977 to 1979 , after which he did his legal clerkship in Lüneburg until 1981 and later became a teacher at a trade school in the Hamburg district of Uhlenhorst .

politics

Frahm has been a member of the SPD since 1966. From 1974 to 1978 he was a member of the Harburg district assembly , in June 1978 he was elected to the Hamburg parliament. He stayed there until his mandate was defeated on September 6, 1985. In 1991, after Traute Müller's election to the Hamburg Senate, he was elected chairman of the Hamburg SPD . After lengthy arguments within the SPD state executive, he did not stand for re-election in February 1994.

NDR bodies

From 1991 to 2008 Frahm was a member of the Broadcasting Council of the NDR , of which he was elected chairman in 1998, 2002 and 2007. In June 2008 he was appointed to the NDR Board of Directors and was last re-elected on June 14, 2013. He is there u. a. Member of the finance committee.
