Herbert Kautz

Herbert Kautz (born January 28, 1945 in Ober-Danegg ; † December 27, 2005 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), electrician and district secretary. Kautz was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1980 to 2005 .

Life

Kautz was born in Ober-Danegg in 1945 as the son of mayor Karl Kautz. After attending primary and secondary school, he learned the profession of electrician and passed the skilled worker examination. He then attended the social academy and was involved early on as the youth chairman of the union youth and the metal and mining youth. From 1970 Kautz took over the position of district party secretary of the SPÖ Neunkirchen and was involved in the works council of the SPÖ federal employees. In 1980 he was sworn in as a local councilor in Neunkirchen and subsequently dealt primarily with social, housing and hospital services. In 1982 he was promoted to city council, in 1984 he became vice mayor. Between 1993 and 2005 he held the office of mayor. Kautz was also vice-president of the ASKÖ from 1986 to 1992 and represented the SPÖ in the Lower Austrian state parliament from October 30, 1980. Here he worked, among other things, on the Financial Control and Audit Office Committee.

Kautz, who had exercised his mandate as a member of the state parliament or his office as mayor to the end, died as a result of complications after a heart operation. He left behind his wife, a son and two grandchildren. Kautz was buried on January 5th, 2006 in Neunkirchen.
