Herta Lepie
Herta Lepie (born Herta Schmitz-Cliever , * 1943 in Eupen ) is a German art historian .
Life
Herta Schmitz-Cliever, daughter of the medical historian Egon Schmitz-Cliever , studied art history, building history, archeology and Romance studies in Bonn, Florence and at the TH Aachen , where she received her doctorate in 1975. From 1976 to 1978 she worked for the Rhineland Museum Office of the Rhineland Regional Council in Bonn . From 1978 to 1986 she was director of the Aachen Cathedral Treasury and from 1987 until retirement in 2003 she was director of the goldsmithing department at Aachen Cathedral . As a specialist in medieval goldsmithing, she was a. a. responsible for the restoration of the Karlsschreins , the Marienschreins , the Barbarossa chandelier and the Pala d'Oro of the Aachen Cathedral. She mainly publishes on the Aachen Cathedral and its furnishings.
