Hill-Marta Solberg (born November 12, 1951 in Sortland ) is a Norwegian politician of the Social Democratic Workers' Party (Ap). She was Minister of Social Affairs from 1994 to 1997 and Fylkesmann of the province of Nordland from 2009 to 2018 .

Life

Solberg studied teaching in Trondheim and worked as a teacher at various schools from 1975 to 1987. From 1983 to 1993 she was a member of the local council of Sortland, from 1987 she was the town's mayor. From 1992 to 2007 she was deputy chairman of her party. In 1993 she moved into the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting , for Nordland for the first time . She was a member of parliament there until 2009. In January 1994 she was appointed Minister of Social Affairs under Gro Harlem Brundtland and continued to hold this post in the Jagland government until October 1997 . Between 2000 and 2001 and again from 2005 to 2009 she was group leader of the Ap im Storting.

In September 2007 it was announced that she would become Fylkesmann von Nordland in 2009 and would therefore no longer run in the 2009 parliamentary elections . She held this office until November 2018. From 2009 to 2016, she was also the chairman of Vinmonopolet , the state-owned company responsible for selling alcohol in Norway.
