Data acquisition and publication

The HND takes into account the data from around 650 gauges in Bavarian waters, including rivers and lakes. Among them are around 550 measuring points of the Bavarian water management . Around 570 of all levels are automatically entered into the HND database via remote data transmission . The remaining water levels are transmitted by cooperation partners. As a rule, the data is updated every 15 minutes.

The flood intelligence service makes its information available online in the form of situation reports, warnings , maps and tables . If the specified water levels are exceeded, the HND informs the responsible water management authorities . From there, the information is sent to cities and municipalities via the registration offices of the district offices . They are responsible for organizing flood defense.

In addition to the level in Bavarian streams and rivers, the service also publishes data from selected measuring points of the precipitation stations and temperature measuring points as well as the groundwater level and from snow monitoring in Bavaria. The results are presented in cartographic and tabular form on the Internet.
