The Tibetan Huangnan Autonomous District ( Chinese  黄 南 藏族 自治州 , Pinyin Huángnán Zàngzú Zìzhìzhōu , Tibetan : རྨ་ ལྷོ་ བོད་ རིགས་ རང་སྐྱོང་ ཁུལ་ ; Wylie transliteration : Rma-lho Bod-rigs rang-skyong-khul ) is located in the east of the Chinese province of Qinghai and is part of the Tibetan cultural region of Amdo . The Tibetan name is Malho. Its administrative seat ("capital") is the large community Rongwo ( 隆 务 镇 Longwu zhen ) in the Rebkong valley. Huangnan has an area of ​​17,921 km².

Administrative structure

Huangnan is composed of three counties and one autonomous county:

  • Tongren district ( 同仁 县 ), capital: Rongwo municipality ( 隆 务 镇 ), 3,465 km², approx. 80,000 inhabitants (2004);
  • Jainca district ( 尖扎 县 ), main town: Magitang municipality ( 马克唐 镇 ), 1,712 km², approx. 50,000 inhabitants (2004);
  • District of Zêkog ( 泽库 县 ), main town: Large municipality of Zêqu ( 泽 曲 镇 ), 6,494 km², approx. 50,000 inhabitants (2004);
  • Henan Autonomous District of the Mongols ( 河南 蒙古族 自治县 ), main town: Yêgainnyin ( 优 干 宁 镇 ), 6,250 km², approx. 30,000 inhabitants (2004).
