Hugo Buff (born October 31, 1908 in Wolfhalden ; † July 12, 1966 there ; entitled to live in Wolfhalden) was a Swiss journalist and politician from Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Hugo Buff was a son of the farmer and silk weaver Albert Buff. In 1941 he married Emilie Hohl, a daughter of the farmer Johannes Hohl. From 1934 to 1937 he worked on the editorial board of the homeworker . From 1937 to 1960 he was the head of the editorial committee of the trade union newspaper Der Seidenweber . From 1936 to 1947 and 1960 to 1964 Hugo Buff was a member of the Canton of Ausserrhoder . In 1941 he gave up silk weaving and agriculture in favor of his journalistic activities. The silk weaver became his personal mouthpiece, pursuing an independent, liberal political course between the bourgeoisie, free economists and social democrats and often deviating from the trade union course. His aggressive writing got him noticed beyond the profession of silk weaver. He was the founder of the Association of Free Democrats in Wolfhalden, worked from 1944 in the central secretariat of the Seidenbucheltuchweber-Verband and worked as an actuary for the Eastern Swiss Association of Homeworkers.
