Until the church is planted

The village of Hutthurm can trace its history back to the Middle Ages. The old market, which was first mentioned in the 11th century, owes its creation and its early economic prosperity to the Lords of Wotzmannsdorf.

The first written record from the year 1075, the deed of foundation of St. Nikola, provides information that Hutthurm was an independent parish at that time.

The old church burned down in 1750 and was rebuilt in Baroque style by Passau artists. The fortress-like tower of the old "Hutthurm" not far from the Goldener Steig was retained in its old form and was probably built in 1483 in this adopted form. Two bells from 1501 and 1520 have survived.

The office of the Hochstift Passau was secularized with most of the Hochstift area in 1803 in favor of Ferdinand of Tuscany and only fell to Bavaria with the peace treaties of Brno and Pressburg in 1805 . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

20th and 21st centuries

In the past few years the market town of Hutthurm was able to achieve an upward development and thus also structural improvements in many areas, so that the formerly almost exclusively agricultural-oriented community has developed into an economic, administrative, school and transport center.
