Immenhof films

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Immenhof films are a series of German homeland and horse films that were released in cinemas between 1955 and 1974 and are set on the fictional Immenhof estate in Schleswig-Holstein . They are based on the novel Dick and Dalli and the Ponies by Ursula Bruns . In the 1950s, a successful film trilogy was created, which was followed by two more films in the early 1970s. On January 17, 2019, a new interpretation was released under the title Immenhof - The Adventure of a Summer in the cinemas.

Production history

After the success of the novel Dick and Dalli and the ponies by Ursula Bruns , Gero Wecker acquired the film rights for his Arca-Filmproduktion GmbH in Göttingen. Since Wecker was busy with other projects, his wife Carola Bornée took over the production management of the film. The success of the Immenhof debut, which was released in 1955, led to two sequels by 1957, with different directors being the artistic directors. 16 years later, Wecker resumed the production of the Immenhof films, which ended with his death.

In contrast, the plot of the ZDF family series Immenhof , which was shot between 1993 and 1995, does not tie in with the five Immenhof films. The events of the film series are not mentioned in the series and even partially contradict the series plot.

Locations

"Immenhof" (1955 to 1957)

Gut Rothensande near Malente (photo 2015)

For the film trilogy shot between 1955 and 1957, Gut Rothensande near Malente in the Ostholstein district was used as a location for outdoor shots.

The other outdoor locations for the first three Immenhof films were also in the Malent area. The film was shot in Eutin , Lübeck , Malente, Niendorf and Plön . The interior shots of the Immenhof residential building, however, were shot in the studio.

Immenhof (1973 and 1974)

The Immenhof films from 1973 and 1974 were no longer shot on Gut Rothensande, but mostly on Gut Kletkamp and some of them on Hof Radlandsichten near Timmdorf . Good Kletkamp served as the backdrop for the outdoor scenes, the court Radlandsichten (location: 54.181 °  N , 10.5181 °  O ) for the interior shots. Today, Hof Radlandsichten also offers farm holidays; the living room used for filming has been preserved in its original state.

Forsthaus Dodau

(Location: 54.13809 °  N , 10.55512 °  O )

The forester's house in Dodau is part of the premises of the state forestry Dodau of the Schleswig-Holstein state forest administration. In the film it is the residence of the riding instructor Jochen von Roth. It is not possible to visit the structures. A hiking trail leads past the site, the structures have been preserved in almost unchanged condition. It is located about three kilometers from Eutin in the immediate vicinity of the bridegroom's oak .

Bathing area at the Redderkrug

The bathing area at the Redderkrug is at the far end of the Great Eutin Lake . In the film, Ethelbert's rider's uniform hung in the branches of the old beech tree on the Redderkrug.

After a lightning strike, only a stump remained of the beech tree, but it has now completely disappeared. The former location has a high recognition value even without the tree , the site is privately owned and not freely accessible.

Wedding church

(Location: 54.174 °  N , 10.5595 °  O )

The wedding of Jochen and Margot in the film Hochzeit auf Immenhof (1956) was filmed at and in the Protestant Maria Magdalenen Church in Malente. The wedding ceremony in the film was carried out by the real priest, which led to a minor scandal: Quite a few claimed that even a fake wedding would have at least religious effects - until actor Paul Klinger (actor of Jochen) publicly stated that he and Karin Andersen (actress of Margot) have actually been married for years.

The church is located in the center of Malente and has not changed either outside or inside compared to the state of 1956, and the altar candlesticks are still there.

primary school

The school scenes with the twins Billy and Bobby were recorded in the Malente elementary school. The classrooms are still unchanged.
