Ina Wolf

Ina Wolf (born October 9, 1954 in Lochau / Vorarlberg , née Christina Ganahl , later also known as Christina Simon ) is an Austrian singer and songwriter.

Previous years and participation in the Eurovision Song Contest

Ina Wolf was part of the new, young Austrian music scene in Vienna in the mid-1970s under the name Christina Simon. With colleagues like Wilfried , Peter Cornelius , Marianne Mendt , Rainhard Fendrich , Alexander Goebel, Erika Pluhar , André Heller , Franz Morak and others. v. a. she participated in numerous record and TV productions. In 1977 she moved with her future partner, the Viennese musician Peter Wolf , the United States, returned for guest appearances several times to Vienna ( Theater an der Wien ) and Berlin ( Theater of the West ), where they in the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar and Mayflower participated , as well as at the Vienna Burgtheater in Mandragora .

In 1979 she was selected internally by ORF to represent Austria at the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem . The song intended for her, Today in Jerusalem , was written by André Heller. She was unsuccessful in the competition itself; with five points - four from Italy and one from Great Britain - she and the Belgian representative came last among 19 participants. The song was published in German and English (Jerusalem) as a single, but could not place in the charts.

After the competition and international years

In 1979 she married Peter Wolf in Los Angeles. Best man was the actor Christoph Waltz , who was then living in New York. Under the name Wolf & Wolf and later Vienna three albums were released, for which Ina Wolf wrote the lyrics and was the lead singer. From now on she worked as a text writer under the name Ina Wolf together with her husband. For musical productions, Ina Wolf has worked successfully with the artists Chicago , Kenny Loggins , Paul Young , Sérgio Mendes , Lou Gramm (Foreigner) , Natalie Cole , Pointer Sisters and Nik Kershaw . She had her greatest success as a songwriter with the Starship hit Sara , which was successful worldwide and reached number one in the US charts.

Return to Austria

After the Northridge earthquake in 1994, Ina Wolf returned to Austria with her two children. The following year they separated from Peter Wolf, whereupon he obtained a retroactive annulment of the marriage under California law.

As a singer, she expressed her passion for jazz and started a jazz project (Ina Wolf & Band). Performances have taken her not only to Austria but also to Germany and Switzerland .

Ina Wolf continues to work as a text author for various artists at home and abroad, such as Aleesha, Starmania , Preluders , Joana Zimmer , Nathalia and Thomas Anders .

On November 14th and 15th, 2014 Ina Wolf performed as a singer together with the Riistorf music association as part of a two-day anniversary concert, at which she performed pieces specially arranged by ABBA .
