Intensive Care is the sixth album by pop artist Robbie Williams and was released on October 24, 2005. The album was created in collaboration with Stephen Duffy . The single releases Tripping , Make Me Pure , Advertising Space and Sin Sin Sin also emerged from this work .

Musical characteristics / criticism

The previously released single Tripping sparked debates in the media about the quality of the album, which was the first to come about after Williams had ended his long-term cooperation with the songwriter Guy Chambers , who was often mistaken for the actual creative mind. Since Williams' previous style was different, unusual rhythms and current dance beats, as well as music that was more detached from the mainstream, triggered strong discussions among critics and fans. Opinions were divided, but Tripping became Williams' first number one hit in Germany. The unmistakable distinguishing feature of the song is the falsetto singing in the chorus, the style is reminiscent of the dance music of the 80s. Williams stated that he was inspired by the song Louise by the British band The Human League from 1984.

Still, Intensive Care marked a musical rebirth for several critics; and not all were of the opinion that this new beginning was a success. The material created in collaboration with Stephen Duffy , which was produced over a period of two years, is nonetheless suitable for radio and at the same time melancholy and full of nostalgia. Williams himself later said, however, that the album was made in the happiest phase of his life and his best so far. Behind the lyrics there is a lot of occultism and black magic , things that Williams was personally enthusiastic about. All songs were recorded in Williams' private bedroom studio.

Despite all the criticism, the album was able to place itself very well in the charts. The sales figures were able to build on the old successes, and Williams proved for the time being that he could be successful without Guy Chambers .
