The National Library of Ireland ( Engl. National Library of Ireland , Irish Leabharlann Náisiúnta na hÉireann ) is the National Library of the Republic of Ireland in Dublin . The responsible government agency is the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The library founded in 1877 is a reference library ; the media may only be used in the library. It has a large amount of Irish and Irish related material which is free to view; this includes books, maps, manuscripts, music, newspapers, magazines and photographs. The library includes both material that has been published by private sources and documents printed by the state.

Attached to the library is the so-called Chief Herald of Ireland and the National Photographic Archive . The library maintains exhibitions and archives all of Ireland's newspapers. But it also offers a number of other services such as genealogy .
