The Ironman Copenhagen is a triathlon sport event held for the first time in August 2013 over the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in Copenhagen .

organization

From 2010 to 2012, the previous event in Copenhagen was the Challenge Copenhagen . This race was taken over by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) and converted to Ironman Copenhagen in 2013.

Ironman Copenhagen enables qualification for a starting place at the Ironman World Championship in October, the Ironman Hawaii .

The race is held annually and took place for the first time on August 18, 2013. In August 2016, Ironman Copenhagen and Ironman Sweden were held on the same weekend and professional women were increasingly at the start in Kalmar, while professional men were here in Copenhagen.

At the 2017 event, there were only professionals at the start for women and again only for men in 2018.

Course records

  • The German Anne Haug has held the stretch record with 8:31:32 h since 2019. This is also a German record.
  • The Swede Patrik Nilsson improved the course record in 2016 to 7:49:18 h.
