Iselin Gundermann

Iselin Gundermann (born May 28, 1935 in Magdeburg ; † February 21, 2009 in Berlin ) was a German librarian and historian .

Life

Gundermann's ancestors came from Thuringia . She was born in 1935 as the daughter of a "Sparkassenmann" who later worked in the GDR Ministry of Finance . Before the air raids on Magdeburg on January 16, 1945 , the family was evacuated and moved to Halle (Saale) in 1947 . It belonged to the Protestant boys community and visited to the matriculation examination in 1953 the Adolf Reichwein School. Then she began studying library science and older German philology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1954 the father went to the Federal Republic . He started at the German Savings Banks and Giro Association in Bonn.

In 1955 the Gundermanns followed. She continued her German and history studies at the University of Bonn . In 1957/58 she studied at the University of Innsbruck . In 1961 she passed the first state examination for the higher teaching post in Bonn . Afterwards she was a guest student at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . In 1963 she was at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Bonn with a thesis Duchess Dorothea of Prussia (1504-1547) for Dr. phil. PhD.

From then on she worked at Walther Hubatsch's chair and became an academic councilor in 1969 and senior academic counselor in 1972 . In 1973 she passed the examination for the higher service at academic libraries at the Librarian Training Institute in Cologne and then looked after the seminar library in Bonn. In 1983 she went to the Geheime Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin as a Scientific Senior Councilor and participated in numerous (traveling) exhibitions, including a. Otto Braun (1984), Friedrich the Great (1986/87), Friedrich III. (1988/89), Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke (1991) and General Land Law for the Prussian States (1994 ff.). From 1990 to 2000 she was Scientific Director (Head of Section and Department) there.

She published on Prussian history . From 1984 she was a member of the Working Group for Berlin-Brandenburg Church History , she was also an employee and editor of the Yearbook for Berlin-Brandenburg Church History . Gundermann was also an assessor in the State Historical Association for the Mark Brandenburg .
