It Will not Be Long ( english It will not be long ) is a song by British band The Beatles in 1963, the first track on the album With the Beatles appeared.

background

Commenting on the piece, John Lennon said, “That was my attempt to write another single. It was never quite enough. "

composition

Although Lennon / McCartney was specified as the authors as usual on the record label , the song is a composition by John Lennon. He said: " It Won't Be Long is mine." Paul McCartney added: "John sang it mostly, so I think the idea came from him originally, but we both sat down and wrote it down."

The in 4 / 4 - stroke wrote song is in E major company and has a length of 2:12 minutes. The tempo is indicated with Moderato , the genre with "Rock".

It Won't Be Long is more than just a rock 'n' roll dance piece. [...] The chords make jumps that are not intended in music theory, but since they had never studied music theory, no one could blame the Beatles for the freedom to neglect them and instead try out what sounded good to their ears. "

text

In the text, a lonely person complains that someone else has left them but is coming back, so it won't be long before they belong together again. In the original language, this formulation is based on the principle of homophony : “It won't be long till I belong to you” (“It won't be long before I belong to you”). The Beatles had already used this play on words for Please Please Me , because the first 'please' means "please", the second means "doing a favor". Another reference to an earlier song concerns She Loves You : There the Beatles popularized the word 'yeah', which they sang 55 times in It Won't Be Long .
