Ivan Lunardi (born May 15, 1973 in Asiago ) is a former Italian ski jumper .

Career

In 1986 he became Junior World Champion on the large hill in Lake Placid, USA. In the following years he was the only Italian next to Roberto Cecon who was among the world's best in the ski jumping World Cup and is still the most successful Italian ski jumper of all time after Cecon.

Until 1992, however, he only reached places in the athletic midfield. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , in front of a home crowd, he only achieved 35th place on the large hill and only 60th place on the normal hill.

His career only got going again in the following winter. On January 10, 1992 he reached a fourth place in Predazzo. About a month later he was seventh on the large hill and 22nd on the normal hill at the 1992 Winter Olympics, and then in March ninth at the ski flying world championship in Harrachov .

The following winter he celebrated his greatest successes. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, he came fourth on the normal hill and ninth on the large hill. On March 7, 1993 he won a World Cup competition on the large hill in Lahti for the first and only time.

In the following years he was unable to build on these successes. In the winters of 1994/95 and 1995/96 he took a break and did not take part in international competitions. After his return to the World Cup in February 1997, he rarely reached the second round. After the 1999/2000 season he ended his career.
