At the XVI. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , 15 competitions were held in Nordic skiing . The venue for the cross-country skiing competitions was the Les Saisies ski stadium at an altitude of 1604 m in the municipality of Hauteluce . Ski jumpers and combiners used the Tremplin du Praz jumping facility in Courchevel . The pursuit races were on the program for the first time, one each for men and women.
For men, the two Norwegians Bjørn Dæhlie and Vegard Ulvang stood out in cross-country skiing . They each won two of the four individual races and, together with two other compatriots, the relay, so that all cross-country gold medals went to Norway. In women's cross-country skiing, Ljubow Jegorowa won three gold and two silver medals - u. a. also with the season of their country.
