Jürgen Ellenberger (born April 19, 1960 in Wichte ) is a German judge and has been Vice President of the Federal Court of Justice since December 2016 . He has been chairman of the XI since the end of February 2015 . Civil Senate of the Federal Court of Justice .

Life

Jürgen Ellenberger began his legal career in 1990 after completing his legal training. He was initially a probationary judge at the Alsfeld District Court and the Marburg District Court . In 1993 he became a professional judge and judge at the Marburg Regional Court. From November 1996 to August 1999 Ellenberger became a researcher at the Federal Court seconded . From August 1, 2000, he worked at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main in a senate dealing with commercial legal protection and competition law. From September 2001 he was head of department in Department II of the Hessian Ministry of Justice . This department deals with public law , civil law and civil procedural law and legislative matters . On September 2, 2004, Ellenberger was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice. Since his appointment he belongs to the XI. Civil Senate. The Senate of the Federal Court of Justice is primarily responsible for banking and stock exchange law . Since 2008 he has been a full member of the Grand Senate for Civil Matters and since April 2012 a deputy member of the Joint Senate of the highest federal courts . On February 27, 2015 he was appointed chairman of the XI. Appointed civil senate.

In December 2016, Ellenberger was appointed Vice President of the Federal Court of Justice.

He is one of the authors of the Palandt (since the 67th edition in 2008).
