John Joseph Kirrane junior (born August 20, 1928 in Brookline , Massachusetts , † September 25, 2016 there ) was an American ice hockey player . At the 1960 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the US national team.

Career

Jack Kirrane began his career as a hockey player at the Boston Olympics, for which he was active from 1947 to 1950 in the Eastern Amateur Hockey League. In the 1954/55 season he also played at club level for the Worcester Warriors. Before the Winter Games in 1948 and 1960, he took part in the Olympic preparation with Team USA . After his career, Kirrane worked for the Brookline Fire Department for a long time. In 1987 he was honored with induction into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame .

International

For the United States Kirrane took part in the Winter Olympics in 1948 in St. Moritz and 1960 in Squaw Valley part. At the Winter Games in 1948, his team was subsequently disqualified, at the Winter Games in 1960 he won the gold medal as team captain with the USA. He was also in his country's squad at the 1957 and 1963 World Championships .
