James E. McPherson

James Edwin McPherson (born January 20, 1953 in Los Angeles County , California ) is a former American Rear Admiral in the United States Navy and current government official.

From 2004 to 2006, McPherson was the United States Navy Judge Advocate General .

After confirmation by the US Senate on March 23, 2020 and swearing in on March 25, 2020, he will act as United States Under Secretary of the Army , previously he was General Counsel of the Army from January 2, 2018 to March 24, 2020 .

On April 7, 2020, after the resignation of Thomas B. Modly in the course of the dismissal affair of Captain Brett Crozier, he was designated as 78th Secretary of the Navy .
