Jamie Burdekin (born December 10, 1979 in Liverpool ) is a British wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Jamie Burdekin starts in the quadriplegic class .

He participated in three Paralympic Games . In 2008 in Beijing he was eliminated in the first round against Shraga Weinberg . In doubles with Peter Norfolk he lost in the semifinals against Weinberg and Boaz Kramer , before they won in three sets in the subsequent game for third place against Bas van Erp and Dorrie Timmermans-van Hall and thus secured the bronze medal. In 2012 in London he only took part in the individual competition. In the first round he lost to Noam Gershony . At the 2016 Games he was eliminated again in the first round of the singles competition, while he won bronze with Andrew Lapthorne in doubles.

At the Wheelchair Tennis Masters he reached the final in the doubles competition for the first time in 2014. With Andrew Lapthorne he lost this in three sets against David Wagner and Nick Taylor . He was also in the final in 2015.

In the world rankings, he achieved his best placings in singles with fourth place on April 28, 2014 and in doubles with second place on September 5, 2016.

He tested positive for cocaine at the 2004 British Open and was banned for two years. Burdekin stated that someone manipulated his drink in a nightspot.
