Jiří Kodet (actor)

Jiří Kodet (born December 6, 1937 in Prague ; † June 25, 2005 there ) was a Czech actor .

Life

The son of actress Jiřina Steimarová and brother of Evelyna Steimarová began his theater career in Pardubice before his colleague Jan Kačer brought him to Ostrava and finally to Prague.

Since the 1950s, Kodet has starred in a few dozen films and series, including Jiří Menzel's "Liebe nach Timetable" (1966). In the 1990s he was awarded the Český lev for the best leading role for his role in "Pelíšky" . He was also known to German audiences from the series Pan Tau (role of a pilot) and Das Krankenhaus am Rande der Stadt .

In the Czechoslovak TV series The Visitors (1983) he played the carousel Ede and in the children's TV series The Fairy Tale Bride an editor at television.

Most recently, Kodet played the role of director František Vláčil in “Sentiment” (2003).
