Jim Burke

Jim Burke is an American film producer .

Life

On January 24, 2012, he was nominated for an Oscar for the film The Descendants - Family and Other Affairs along with Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor . Nominations for this film also included the 2012 AACTA International Awards , the British Academy Film Award 2012 , the Gotham Awards 2011 , the Independent Spirit Awards 2012 and the PGA Awards 2012. Jim Burke also won the AFI Film Award with Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor 2011 for The Descendants .

The first collaboration with Payne and Taylor took place during the production of the film Election . Taylor asked Burke for his opinion while the script was being drafted, with Burke calling it "the best script [he] ever read." In 2005 Jim Burke, Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor founded the film production company Ad Hominem Enterprises , which also produced The Descendants .

In late June 2017, Burke became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .

In 2019, he and Charles B. Wessler , Brian Currie , Peter Farrelly and Nick Vallelonga won the Oscar for best picture for his work as producer of the film Green Book .
