Joachim Paulick (born March 24, 1958 in Görlitz ) is a non-party German local politician . He was Lord Mayor of Görlitz from 2005 to 2012 .

Life

After attending the general education polytechnic high school in Ludwigsdorf and Zodel , from 1974 to 1977 a professional training as a maintenance mechanic with a high school diploma followed in Bitterfeld . Training as a master in mining technology was followed by part-time courses in business administration (VWA) at the Saxon Administration and Business Academy and real estate management (VWA) . From 1979 he worked as a miner until he became a steiger in 1992 . From 1990 to 1998 he was chairman of the works council at the Berzdorf opencast mine and from 1990 to 1994 a member of the supervisory board of Lausitzer Braunkohle AG (LAUBAG) and then until 2004 of the supervisory board of Lausitzer und Mitteldeutsche Bergbau Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (LMBV).

From 1998 to 2002, in addition to his political career, he worked as a specialist engineer and from 2002 as a site developer at the Schwarze Pump industrial park .

Paulick was an honorary judge at the Saxon State Labor Court from 1994 to 2005 , chairman of the general works council of LMBV mbH between 1996 and 2002 and city ​​councilor of the independent city of Görlitz from 1999 to 2005. He is a member of the Association for Labor Market and Regional Development e. V. (AuR e.V.), in the Association of Mining Contemporary Witnesses Berzdorf-Oberlausitz e. V., in the Förderverein Stadthalle Görlitz e. V. and the Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union (IG BCE).

Paulick has three daughters and is single . He is of the Protestant denomination .

Today Paulick works as a property manager and broker in Görlitz.

Political career

In 1980 he became a member of the then block party LDPD . In 1990, the year of German reunification , he resigned from the party and from 1994 to 2008 became a member of the Christian Democratic Workforce (CDA) and the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU). In 1998 he became a member of the Saxon state board of the CDA. From 1999 Paulick worked for the CDU in the city ​​council of Görlitz and took up the post of mayor of his hometown on July 1, 2005 . Until then he was a member of the CDU district executive in Görlitz and deputy district chairman. In June 2008 he was elected to the district council of the new district of Görlitz . On July 16, 2008, he resigned from the CDU. In February 2009, he founded the voters' association to the point! .

For the election as Lord Mayor of Görlitz on April 22, 2012, Paulick ran as acting Lord Mayor against the non-partisan candidate Siegfried Deinege , who was supported by an alliance of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , Bürger für Görlitz , CDU and FDP . Paulick received 30.8% of the valid votes, while his challenger Deinge was elected mayor by 69.8% of the electorate.
