Joel Dinis Castro Pereira (born June 28, 1996 in Le Locle , Switzerland ) is a Portuguese football player . The goalkeeper is under contract with Manchester United .

Career

Pereira began his career with the Neuchâtel Xamax club and moved to Manchester United in 2012. He was part of the team that won the Professional U-21 Development League in 2014/15.

On October 17, 2015, it was awarded to Rochdale AFC for a month. The contract was extended until January 3, 2016 due to good performance. He played eight times for Rochdale AFC during that time. Six of them were league games.

On February 25, 2016, he was appointed to the Manchester United squad for the Europa League match against FC Midtjylland for the first time . However, he was not used in the 5-1 win. On August 31, 2016 he was awarded to Belenenses in Portugal. The loan ended on January 5, 2017 because the third Manchester United goalkeeper was loaned to Aston Villa .

Pereira made his debut for Manchester United on January 29, 2017 in the FA Cup match against Wigan Athletic when he came on for Sergio Romero after 80 minutes . On May 21, 2017 he started for the first time in the Premier League against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford . On July 1, 2017, he extended his contract until 2021. At the end of January 2019, he was awarded to KV Kortrijk in Belgium .

In mid-August 2019, Pereira switched to the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian on loan until the end of the 2019/20 season . There he was used 20 times in the league, whereupon he left the club with the end of his contract.
