Johanna Brade

Johanna Brade (* 1960 in Oldenburg ) is a German art historian and author .

Life

Johanna Brade studied art history and received her doctorate in 1993 from the Free University in Berlin with her thesis The Circus and Variety Pictures of the " Bridge " (1905–1913). Between image experiment and social criticism. On topic choice and design of motifs . She has been working as a research assistant in the fields of art history and the photo library at the Schlesisches Museum in Görlitz since the late 1990s and has since provided support there as well as in Munich ( Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung , 2003) and Oldenburg (Oldenburg) (Stadtmuseum Oldenburg, 2005 / 2006) several art exhibitions , partly also as a curator .

Her work focuses on painting, graphics and sculpture from the 19th and 20th centuries. Her research focuses on the history of art in Silesia and works on cross-border projects and joint art exhibitions with Poland and the Czech Republic . Brade published numerous works on art history, especially on the history of art in Silesia, as an author or co-author and in some cases as an editor.
