Johannes Brosseder (born December 10, 1937 in Leverkusen ; † June 10, 2014 ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Brosseder was a student of Heinrich Fries and taught systematic theology at the seminar for Catholic theology and religious education at the University of Cologne , previously in Munich and at the University of Education in the Rhineland , Bonn department. His special focus was on questions of ecumenical theology . From 1996 to 2000 he was President of the European Society for Ecumenical Research Societas Oecumenica , which he co-founded in 1978. From 1975 to 1992 he worked in the German Ecumenical Study Committee of the ACK and was one of the signatories of the Cologne Declaration of 1989 "Against incapacitation - for open catholicity" and the memorandum " Church 2011: A necessary awakening ".

Johannes Brosseder was married, had two daughters and lived in Königswinter - Rauschendorf near Bonn.
