John Giannandrea

John Giannandrea (* 1965 in Bridge of Allan ) is a British computer scientist who joined Apple in 2018 as Senior Vice President Machine Learning and AI Strategy.

Giannandrea was Technical Director ( CTO ) of the co-founders of speech recognition company Tellme Networks , the web browser department at Netscape and senior engineer at General Magic .

Giannandrea became known as the founder of Metaweb and its Freebase database . After Google acquired Metaweb in 2010, he headed the search and artificial intelligence departments at Google . In early 2018 , Giannandrea moved to Apple Inc. as a senior executive.In December 2018, Giannandrea was appointed senior vice president for machine learning and strategy for artificial intelligence .
