John Lawrence (racing driver)

John "Jock" Lawrence (born October 14, 1931 - September 15, 2006 ) was a British racing driver .

Career

John Lawrence was active as a racing driver in the 1950s. He had his first successes in 1953 at national club races in Great Britain and entered international sports car racing in the middle of the decade. He won a total of 13 races and reached the top three podium 30 times. In 1953 he competed for Ecurie Ecosse on a Jaguar C-Type together with Jimmy Stewart in the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring and finished this event in sixth place overall.

He celebrated his greatest success in 1957 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . With partner Ninian Sanderson he finished second overall.
