He is arrested in the port city of Curacos and finds that the military governor Oronta looks very much like him. Since he is planning a coup, he is happy to now have a double that is attracting attacks. Jonny is put in uniform and instructed.

As Oronta, he meets Marina, Lieutenant Dacano's fiancée; this in turn has received the government order to stop Oronta. Marina sees through the double game and becomes Jonny's accomplice. Both are trying to bring the evidence of the planned coup to the capital; However, Jonny is taken for Oronta, arrested and sentenced to death. At the last second they expose the real traitor; Jonny is celebrated as the savior of Nebrador. However, he prefers his ranch.

Production notes

The “adventure film with western elements” was produced in the Bavaria Film studio in Geiselgasteig . The outdoor shots were taken in Senigallia , Rimini and Ancona .

The following songs are sung: “Like the wind through the prairie” (Hans Albers), “I am the black Lou” (Trude Hesterberg), “You know Ramona” (Margot Hielscher).

criticism

“We almost had a film in which Albers parodies himself. But it's not so easy to parody the typical Albers film when you want to make a typical Albers film at the same time, ”says Gunter Groll. The lexicon of international films judges: "As an adventure film too cumbersome, as a political parody too mindless, the film is quite entertaining because of Albers' gruff charm."
