José Acasuso (born October 20, 1982 in Posadas , Misiones ) is a former Argentinian tennis player .

Career

Acasuso originally aspired to a career as a basketball player, but at the age of twelve he started playing tennis. He was a professional tennis player on the ATP World Tour from 1999 to 2012 , where he won three singles and five doubles titles - all on clay.

He achieved his best placement in the ATP world rankings in August 2007 with position 20.

On February 24, 2012, at the age of 29, he announced his retirement from professional tennis as part of the 2012 Copa Claro .
