The Internazionali BNL d'Italia 2011 was a tennis tournament that took place from May 8th to 15th, 2011 in Rome . It was part of the 2011 ATP World Tour and was played outdoors on a clay court. This season it was the fifth of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Rafael Nadal ; he reached the final again in 2011, but failed there in two sets to Novak Đoković . This was Đoković's seventh title of the season in a row, so he remained unbeaten in the 2011 season. In doubles, the Bryan brothers competed as defending champions, but they failed in the quarterfinals. The American couples Mardy Fish / Andy Roddick and John Isner / Sam Querrey qualified for the final. However, since Roddick could not compete due to a shoulder injury, last year's finalists Isner / Querrey became the 2011 titleholders without a fight.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the double competition consisted of 24 pairs. The 8 top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was 2,227,500 euros; the total financial liabilities were 2,750,000 euros.

The qualification took place from May 6th to 7th, 2011. Seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There were also three lucky losers.
