Judith Basin County is a county in the state of Montana in the United States . The county seat is in Stanford .

As of the 2000 census , the county had 2,329 people. There were 951 households and 661 families. The population density was less than 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.63% White, 0.04% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 0.04% other races Groups; 0.86% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.56% of the population.

Of the 951 households, 30.00% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 62.70% were married couples living together, 4.30% were single mothers. 30.40% were not families. 27.50% are single households and 12.30% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.02.

For the entire county, the population was composed of 26.80% of residents under the age of 18, 4.60% between the ages of 18 and 24, 23.30% between the ages of 25 and 44, and 28.20% between the ages of 45 and 64 17.20% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 107.90 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 103.90 males.

The median income for a household in the 29,241 USD , and the median income for a family was 34,243 USD. Males had a median income of $ 21,789 versus $ 14,615 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,291. 21.10% of the population and 16.30% of families are below the poverty line. 30.60% of them were under 18 years of age and 13.30% were 65 years of age or older.
