As of the 2000 census , the county had 2,329 people. There were 951 households and 661 families. The population density was less than 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.63% White, 0.04% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 0.04% other races Groups; 0.86% were from two or more races.
