He confirmed this performance at the German Championships in Klingenthal and Johanngeorgenstadt . While he narrowly missed the podium in the individual, he and Johannes Rydzek won his first medal at senior level in third in the team sprint. As the reigning junior world champion, Schmid was guaranteed a place in the World Cup team at the start of the winter in Ruka . After he narrowly missed the points, he showed his potential with the ranks 14 and 16. With further good appearances in Lillehammer , he solidified his position in the German World Cup team, although his mileage can still be improved.
