Simon Hüttel (born August 4, 1999 in Marktredwitz ) is a German Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Hüttel, who starts for WSV Weissenstadt , made his international debut on September 6, 2014 at the Alpine Cup competition in Winterberg , which he did not finish. In the following years he regularly took part in OPA competitions. For the first time he reached the podium in September 2015 at the Alpencup in Hinterzarten , but a few months later he won the bronze medal in the youth singles and silver with the team at the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2016 in Tarvisio and Villach . After celebrating his first victory in the Alpencup in October 2016, he made his debut in the Continental Cup in Klingenthal in December . There he initially missed the points, but was able to reach them with nineteenth place on his second participation.

At the German Championships 2017 in Klingenthal, Hüttel was the German Junior Champion ahead of Julian Schmid and Jonas Welde . In August 2018 he made his Grand Prix debut in Oberstdorf , but could not make it into the top thirty. A few weeks later, Hüttel defended his junior championship title at the 2018 German Championships in Hinterzarten. In addition, he and Johannes Rydzek finished third in the team sprint.

In the winter of 2018/19, Hüttel regularly reached the points in the Continental Cup . He did best in ninth place at the mass start in Nizhny Tagil . In the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2019 in Finland's Lahti he won the sprint to 22nd place, while he for the Gundersen not been nominated -Single over ten kilometers. Together with Luis Lehnert , David Mach and Julian Schmid , he won the gold medal with the team. At the end of the season he made his World Cup debut in Schonach , but missed the points.

At the mass start in Klingenthal as part of the 2019 Grand Prix , Hüttel won Grand Prix points for the first time with 29th place.

Hüttel trains at the Bundesstützpunkt Oberstdorf and belongs to course group Ib in the 2019/20 season .

Personal

Both his father Horst and his grandpa used to jump themselves. In 2014, Hüttel switched to the CJD Christophorus Schools in Berchtesgaden for reasons of reconciling school and sport , which he successfully completed four years later with the Abitur.
