Julius Aghahowa (born February 12, 1982 in Benin City ) is a Nigerian football player . He currently plays for PFK Sevastopol and the Nigerian national team .

society

Aghahowa began his career in 1997 with the Nigerian association Bendel Insurance . However, he only played there for two years before moving to the top Tunisian club Espérance Tunis . But even there it did not last long and signed a contract with the Ukrainian top club Shakhtar Donetsk , which came into force on January 1, 2000. There he was three times Ukrainian champion (2002, 2005 and 2006) and won the Ukrainian Cup. On January 30, 2007, he moved to the English Premier League club Wigan Athletic , for which he could not score a single goal in a year and a half.

He was signed by Kayserispor on July 20, 2008 for an estimated EUR 1 million transfer fee. On October 5, 2008, he helped his team with his hat trick to a surprising 4-1 away win against runner-up Fenerbahçe Istanbul .

In July 2009 he returned to Shakhtar Donetsk. For the 2010/11 season he is loaned to the PFK Sevastopol .

National team

With the Nigerian national team he took part in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, where he was particularly noticeable for his acrobatic goal celebration with several forward somersaults in the 1: 2 against Sweden . He also took part in four Africa Cups with Nigeria , in which he came second once (in Ghana and Nigeria in 2000) and three times in third (in Mali in 2002, in Tunisia in 2004 and in Egypt in 2006). So far, Aghahowa has completed 32 games for Nigeria and scored 14 goals.
