Jura Elektroapparate AG , based in the Swiss municipality of Niederbuchsiten , has been developing and selling household and electrical appliances since 1931 . The company was founded by the mechanic Leo Henzirohs-Studer (1902–1984).

Jura was named after the seat of the first factory on the southern foot of the Jura mountains .

Jura coffee machine

Today, Jura is best known for its fully automatic coffee machines . This focus emerged in the mid-1980s and has since contributed almost entirely to the company's image, but also to its turnover. In order to keep the brand image at a high level, great emphasis is placed on design when developing the devices; cheap equipment lines are not used.

For a long time, especially in Switzerland, Jura was also known for other household appliances, especially irons . At the end of 2008, Jura stopped selling its range of hangers. As a reminder of the company's history, the company is keeping two “classic” products in its range in the Swiss home market: a toaster with a retro look and the pretzel iron.

The fully automatic coffee machines are sold worldwide. Jura is represented by its own sales companies or joint ventures in Germany ( Nuremberg , sales and headquarters; Grainau , Gastro; Singen , central service), Austria , the Netherlands , Sweden , France , Spain , Poland , the United Kingdom , the USA and Australia . This also exists for sales in Eastern and Central Europe (Jura Central Eastern Europe). The market development in the other countries takes place in close cooperation with local distributors.

With the opening of the “JURAworld of Coffee” at the headquarters for the company's 75th anniversary in 2006, Jura entered into a partnership with Swiss tennis player Roger Federer . As a so-called “ambassador” for Jura, he helps make the brand better known around the world. In 2012 the contract with Federer was extended to 2020. The “JURAworld of Coffee” is the company's visitor center .

The exhibition in the visitor center designed by Andrin Schweizer guides visitors through the history of coffee, starting with the legends about the discovery of coffee, the "discovery" of the drink by Western travelers in the Orient, through to the spread of coffee in Europe. The passage ends with the short film "In Heaven" by the Austrian director Michael Glawogger, which was produced for the exhibition . The exhibition was redesigned in 2014: the company's history has since been given a permanent place in it. The “Roger Federer Walk of Fame” is also integrated in the visitor center, including original trophies from the Swiss tennis star.
