Justin Chadwick (born December 1, 1968 in Manchester , Lancashire ) is an English actor and director.

Acting career

Chadwick began acting at the age of 11. He joined the Bolton Little Theater and played the role of Billy Casper in Kes . Chadwick attended Turton High School in Bolton before graduating from the University of Leicester and making his first appearance in the 1991 film London Kills Me . He has also appeared on the series Heartbeat , Police Doctor Dangerfield , Dalziel and Pascoe and a few other productions.

Director career

Chadwick made his directorial debut in 1993 in the television production Family Style , in which Ewan McGregor played the lead role. He also produced episodes for EastEnders , Byker Grove , The Bill , Spooks and Red Cap . He then produced nine of the fifteen episodes of the Bleak House miniseries . His historical drama The Queen's Sister was shown at the 2008 Berlinale . His film Mandela - The Long Road to Freedom was released in 2013 and the costume drama Tulip Fever in 2017 .

Awards

Chadwick has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award , a Royal Television Society Award, and a British Academy Film Award . For the latter with the series Bleak House , which won a British Academy Television Award in 2006. In 2014, Chadwick received the Peace Prize of German Films for his biopic Mandela - The Long Road to Freedom , which is awarded by the Bernhard Wicki Memorial Fund.
