Károly Bolberitz

Károly Bolberitz (actually Karl Bolberitz von Bleybach ; born January 21, 1906 in Budapest , † March 20, 1978 ibid) was a Hungarian health care engineer and water hygienist . He was a chemist , economist and non-official state representative.

Life

Károly Bolberitz was a nephew of Farkas Heller , the Austro-Hungarian founder of economics. Among his five children are the conductor Tamás (Thomas) Bolberitz and the Catholic theology professor Pál (Paul) Bolberitz .

In the early 1930s he worked as an academic at the Hungarian State Health Department, then from 1935 at the Ministry of Industry. During the Second World War he was first chief engineer, then general director of the Ovaltine manufacturer "Wander AG". He survived the siege of Budapest in the winter of 1944–1945 with his children and his heavily pregnant wife in Buda Castle , as a close neighbor of the Apostolic Nunciature and the headquarters of the German Wehrmacht . In 1948 he stayed with his family in Hungary, bearing the discriminatory consequences of his Silesian-German noble descent. Until his retirement he was pushed into the background in what was now communist Hungary. His work in the field of water hygiene was known only to professionals. He was particularly concerned with the problems of the huge pollution of the overused industry , the pollution after the floods and the general water hygiene in the Carpathian Basin, which is almost twice the size of Bavaria .
