Kälberklamm and Hasenklamm is a nature reserve in the Black Forest-Randplatten natural area in the state or urban district of Karlsruhe in Baden-Württemberg . It is located in the northern edge of the Black Forest and includes the Kälber- and Hasenklamm streams with their natural sources. It forms a habitat for partially protected, drought-loving animals and plants.

The approximately 21.1 hectare area is located in the municipalities of Ettlingen and Waldbronn as well as in the Karlsruhe district of Grünwettersbach .

Nature reserve profile

The protection purpose (§ 3) consists of the preservation and safeguarding of the water morphology and dynamics of two Kerbbach systems and the natural source areas, as well as the preservation and promotion of the plant and animal communities associated with this type of water and the canyon forest communities that occur there . Furthermore, rare and endangered animal species, above all amphibians and reptiles as well as birds , are to be protected. In addition, former quarries and quarry wall remains are to be preserved.

Flora and fauna

The area is primarily the habitat of the peregrine falcon . Furthermore, there is the dark blue ant , which is endangered throughout Europe .
