Karl Hillermeier (born December 1, 1922 in Wallmersbach ; † October 30, 2011 in Bad Windsheim ) was a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Würzburg in 1941 , Hillermeier was drafted into the Wehrmacht and participated in World War II as a soldier until 1945 . In 1946 he began to study law at the University of Erlangen , which he completed in 1952 with the second state examination. He then entered the Bavarian civil service. From 1953 to 1964 he worked as a legal civil servant at the Uffenheim district office, where he was last appointed to the senior government council. From 1964 to 1966 he worked as a department head at the district government in Middle Franconia .

Hillermeier had been a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Bavaria since 1972 . In addition, he was temporarily head of the European Academy of Bavaria and, as Minister of State, was also chairman of the European Union Germany in the Bavarian State Association.

Political party

He joined the CSU, was elected to the state executive committee of the party and was chairman of the CSU district of Middle Franconia.

MP

Hillermeier was a member of the district council of the Uffenheim district and from 1966 to 1972 chairman of the CSU parliamentary group. He was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1962 to 1990.

Public offices

Hillermeier was State Secretary in the State Ministry for Labor and Social Welfare from December 5, 1966 to December 8, 1970 and then State Secretary in the State Ministry of Finance in the government of the Free State of Bavaria led by Prime Minister Alfons Goppel until November 12, 1974 . He was appointed Minister of State for Justice on November 12, 1974 , and on May 26, 1977 he also took over the post of Deputy Prime Minister. Since 1978 he has also been a member of the subsequent government headed by Prime Minister Franz Josef Strauss . From October 27, 1982 to October 30, 1986 he was Minister of State for the Interior . He then moved to the head of the State Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs , which he headed until he left the state government on June 14, 1988.
