Karl von Stieler

Karl von Stieler (born March 12, 1864 in Heilbronn , † February 16, 1960 in Bebenhausen ) was a German administrative lawyer and ministerial official .

Life

After completing his law studies , he became a judge at the Stuttgart District Court in 1894 . After working there for two years, he moved to the domain management of the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1896 and then in 1899 as a finance advisor to the general management of the Royal Württemberg State Railways . Between 1904 and 1907 he was delegated to the Reich Railway Office as a secret councilor . Subsequently, he was State Councilor of the Grand Duchy of Baden and President of the General Management of the Württemberg State Railways.

After the founding of the Weimar Republic , he was first in 1919 for Under Secretary of State and shortly afterwards next to Max Peters for Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport and held this position until November 1923 the Reich Transport Ministers John Bell , Gustav Bauer , Wilhelm Groener and Rudolf Oeser . At the same time he was head of the railway department and head of the Reich Railroad Council and can be considered the real father of the Deutsche Reichsbahn during the Weimar Republic.

Afterwards he was Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft until 1934 .

He was a member of the Academic Society Stuttgardia Tübingen .
