The Kasai Canoe Slalom Center ( Japanese 葛西カヌースラロームセンター, Kasai kanūsurarōmusentā , German  Kasai canoe slalom center ) is a Whitewater facility for canoe slalom in the Japanese capital Tokyo in the district of Edogawa .

history

The sports facility was built for the 2020 Summer Olympics and is the only whitewater facility for canoe slalom in Japan. The facility will be equipped with temporary seats during the games so that a capacity of 7,500 is guaranteed.

The 200 meter long competition course was opened on July 6, 2019 and has a height difference of 4.5 meters from start to finish. Among the spectators was Yuriko Koike . Takuya Haneda , the 2016 bronze medalist from Rio de Janeiro , was the first athlete to ride the route.

After the games, the route will be used for national and international canoe competitions. Furthermore, the general public should also have the opportunity to use the route for rafting.
